On Tuesday, March 20, Mom and I arrived in Vancouver from Nashville, meeting up with Dad and Andrew who came from home. We were there to visit relatives.
The wharf at Steveston on the ocean.
We watched this huge ocean liner come by. It was probably filled with vehicles.
One of the days we were in Richmond, we tried geo-caching. We looked for several but only found one.
We were planning on going skiing one day, but unfortunately, the weather forecast wasn’t good, so Mom and her sister planned that Andrew and I with our cousins would have a little competition making tourism videos for Richmond:) We visited lots of different sites to film, one of them being the Richmond Olympic Oval.
There was a sledge hockey game going on while we were there. The oval was converted after the Olympics, so now it includes two full sheets of ice amidst many other things.
We also visited the London Heritage Farm.
One of the nice things about making these little films, is that we could go to some fun tourist attractions. We tried 10 pin bowling.
We also got to go try some go-carts! We had to put these masks on before putting on helmets:)
On the weekend, we drove to Abbotsford to volunteer at a Gleaners operation. The Gleaners have a number of sites in Canada where they process donated fruit and vegetables to send out to relief organizations. We appreciated their overt Christian testimony. Mom and I are cutting up apples which are to be dried.
Scraping dehydrated apples off pans.
They had a soup line where we poured a scoop of dried vegetables into a pail and quickly passed it along to the next person for another kind of vegetables. These pails went around a u-shaped assembly line and then got poured into bags and sealed. The two days we were there we helped pack approximately 350,000 servings of soup.
Dad packing soup bags into boxes to be shipped.
While we were in Abbotsford we went to a Fun Park where they had all sorts of activities. We were driving remote control boats in this picture.
Dad and Andrew go-carting. Yes, even Dad went this time:)
We also tried some bumper cars which were a lot of fun!
The fisherman memorial at Steveston.
On Tuesday we drove back to Richmond and flew home late at night. We had a really good time, and thank the Lord for providing safety in all the travels.
The LORD shall preserve thy going out and thy coming in from this time forth, and even for evermore. Psalm 121:8
