Grandpa!

June 11, 1918 – September 12, 2015

My grandpa, Frank Derksen, age 97, died peacefully at Goodwill Manor Care Home, Duck Lake on Saturday, September 12, 2015, following a 2 month stay in the Rosthern Hospital. He was born in Osterwick, South Russia. He immigrated to Canada at age 5. He was well known and respected in the Rosthern area, where he owned and operated Rosthern Agencies, until age 72. Grandpa was actively involved in the church and community. He will be missed by his family. Here are a few pictures of him.

His scooter which brought him all over Rosthern and even out into the country!

We thank God for the many years He gave to our grandpa!

Filming at the Lake

On August 31, our family and friends from two other families went up to the lake to make a short film called Set Free. Here are some pictures:

Pushed off!

Splash! Pushed off the dock!

Driving the boat

Here I am driving the boat with Dad hidden from view. I was going off to fish.

Oops!

Oops! When we were trying to film this scene, the bully was supposed to be tipping the guy in the kayak, but, he accidentally tipped himself in the process!

We had lots of fun filming. Now Micah is going on to the editing stage!

Chicks to Chickens

On June 5th, we got about 450 chicks. They were really cute yellow fuzz balls but they don’t stay that way as you will be able to see in the pictures.

What are you doing?

“What are you doing here?”

The Chickens

The chickens now.

The pens

The 4 chicken pens. The chickens are moved each day to a new patch of land so they can enjoy the weeds, bugs, etc.
