“Back To Your Roots” Conference

Earlier this week Dad and I went to the “Back to Your Roots” producers conference. Levi came for one day as well.  We got  interested in this soil amendment program because they say it will raise brix (sugar content), get rid of insects,  inhibit weeds, and loosen up the soil, all of which we have problems  with.  It does all this by balancing the minerals in the soil.  Overall this was a very good and informative conference. From the Old to the New!

Last Friday we picked up our (new to us) 2008 Honda Odyssey. Here are some comparison pictures of the front of new van and our old van (which had a close visit with a deer:)

The messed up front of our old van

The exploded airbag

And here is the exploded airbag on the Montana. If the van was repairable (which it isn’t really) we would have to replace the two front seat-belts which automatically locked into place in the crash! Amazingly,  the two front headlights are totally intact.

Recording 2014

On January 2nd, 2014, we started the recording venture. The first day Darrell Bueckert brought his portable set to our house, and we recorded all day. Since then we have been going to his studio. Here are some pictures!

Recording “Spread the News” was a little harder because we couldn’t turn our heads. This is probably our shortest song!

Heidi was chasing Andrew around trying to get a picture of him reading, so he got her back by taking this one:)

It was funny listening to people sing with earphones because we could only hear them and not the rest of the music!

Behind the scenes…passing time!

People quietly read or played with their toes while they waited their turn:)!

Somebody enjoyed sleeping on the job!!

Recording went quite well, but we were told that it will take a while before we receive the finished product.

Oh Deer!!

Last Friday, January 17, we were waiting for Dad to get home from work, so we could drive to a 7:00 Bible Study in Hepburn. Around 6: 30, we phoned  to ask him where he was, and he told us that he had hit a deer! We quickly jumped in the van and drove down Highway 312. When we saw two vehicles parked by the side of the road, we pulled up and exited the van, with warnings to be careful. After seeing the smashed front of the van and the exploded airbag, we saw the police truck barreling down the highway and pulling up, and then we had to leave!

Our van is the green one in the middle of the picture.

Watchdogs were keeping our van safe in the jail :)

The watchdogs were carefully guarding all the vehicles in the jail!

We found out that the other vehicle at the scene had hit the deer before Dad, and it had rolled over their car and landed smack-dab in front of Dad! The man in the other car had tried to warn Dad by flashing his brights. Dad looked down to see if his were on, looked up and plowed into the deer at full speed, which, in turn sent the deer flying, the airbag exploding, and Dad halting. We are thankful that Dad didn’t get hurt!

James 4: 14, 15- Whereas ye know not what shall be on the morrow. For what is your life? It is even a vapour, that appeareth for a little time, and then vanisheth away. For that ye ought to say, If the Lord will, we shall live, and do this, or that.

What A Blast!!

Yesterday was just one of those days that almost  “blows you away”!:-)

Windy, Windy

We had winds over 100 km/hr and the temperature was above 0, which is very rare for January! In the morning a crane’s boom got swung around by the wind, knocking out the power supply to Rosthern and area for a couple of hours.
