Hello, my name is Micah Derksen. I will probably be the main updater for this blog. My goal for the blog is this verse: “Finally, brethren, whatsoever things are true, whatsoever things are honest, whatsoever things are just, whatsoever things are pure, whatsoever things are lovely, whatsoever things are of good report; if there be any virtue, and if there be any praise, think on these things.” Philippians 4:8 (KJV). I hope that you will be blessed by this blog!

Fall on the Family Farm: Picking the Cherries
Here are some pictures from picking cherries.
It was fun visiting with the pickers we hired.
In the past few years we have hired some Burmese families from Rosthern to help us with the picking.
Grandpa (age 95) even helped us for quite a few hours each day.
In one variety of cherry trees, we had over 50 % brown rot. So we had to pick very carefully, and sort very carefully.
Caught red-handed at the sorting table!
Some cherry trays in the cooler.
A very full van off to the processor! There were at least 6 trays high in most places!
On this last load we brought around 1705 pounds to Lumsden, which is close to Regina.
