Yesterday we had our first skate for the winter on our pond. It was really fun. Here are some pictures.
Getting our skates on!
We asked Dad when he had just woken up if we could skate on the pond which had just frozen over and he said we had to wear life jackets because the ice was only 3 inches thick….even though the pond is only about 4 feet deep:)
The past two springs I have gotten Valencia peanuts from Early’s.
The other day I dug the three peanut plants up, and roasted the peanuts. Each plant had about 2- 5 shells. On the plate is one shell and a few roasted peanuts.
Joshua made 4 fold-away trays to replace our old trays which were getting quite rickety. First he took apart the old trays and kept the top board. He sanded it, put veneer on top, put new edges around it and stained it. He made brand new legs which are much sturdier than the old legs were. He also built a new rack to store the trays.
I have not posted much over summer so I will show pictures of some things that we have been doing.
Two of the carrot patches.
Some beautiful scenery photos!
The sun peeking through the apple trees.
The oat field.
Pruning in the apple orchard.
Lots of vegetables this summer! This is all from one picking of peas!
This is a carrot digger that Jesse made. It digs around the carrots to loosen our hard soil so we can pull carrots easily right out of the ground.
Takes a little weight to push it into the ground!
We just finished mowing for our customers yesterday!
We just got our rink up over our garden. And…
The leaves are changing.
